Q - Is it safe to train in a martial art like karate during this pandemic?
A - Even routine, everyday tasks seem filled with risk these days, so we must recognize that there is a risk, but that risk, just like going to the grocery store, can be managed. We plan to manage the risk to provide a safe training environment as far as possible.
Q - So will training continue as usual?
A - Some aspects of our training will continue as normal...Kata, Static and Moving Kihon, (Basics) can all be performed with minimal changes. The line work and partner work will be modified to reduce contact between unrelated individuals. As the training develops cohorts may be introduced along with striking pads and a strict cleaning regime to allow a wider range of drills to be practiced
Q - What will your students be required to do?
A - Students will be required to turn up dressed for training. All students will be asked to bring their own water bottle and a small hand towel if they are prone to heavy perspiration.
Current Provincial Guidelines and SWKKF Guidelines are being followed to ensure that all reasonable steps are being taken to keep our students and instructors safe.
All students will be expected to excuse themselves from training if they are suffering from any Covid-19 related symptoms. Any student attending training with obvious signs of the illness will be sent home.
